Fattoria Colsanto Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG

Colsanto’s iconic Sagrantino di Montefalco is sourced from prime vineyards in Montarone in the municipality of Bevagna. Here the clay and lime soils are ideal for producing elegant yet structured red wines with plenty of rich fruit character. The grapes are harvested by hand to optimise quality and are fermented in temperature-controlled tanks for fifteen days. The young wine then spends 15 months ageing in oak casks followed by another 12 months of ageing in stainless steel tanks before bottling.

This lengthy ageing process helps to create a polished and well-defined red, with smooth yet firm tannins and a generous full body. On the nose there are enchanting notes of wild berries, tobacco leaf, and spice, while the palate offers a solid core of dark fruit and lingering notes of toasted oak, leather, and dried herbs.
